Today, Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler visited THS to talk with our Freshman during Advisory. Among the topic he discussed were:
- Social Media
- Bullying and the consequences of Harassment/Intimidation
- Drugs including Marijuana, Meth, and Fentanyl
- Safe Passage Program

Mrs. Crane, the instructional coaches, and Ms. Specha created a QR code checkout system for the teachers at Memorial School. Teachers will now have access to check out and share reading materials for their classrooms.



First grade classes enjoyed a visit from a mailman today. They are learning about community helpers this week. Thank you to our local post office for sending someone to speak to our students.


Congratulations to Matt Blomquist, who was named a winner of the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence this morning. Blomquist, a construction teacher at Taylorville High School in Taylorville, IL, won a total of $50,000, including $15,000 for himself and $35,000 for his program. A total of $1.25 million is being awarded to twenty high school skilled trades teachers in 15 states. Harbor Freight Tools for Schools

We celebrate our custodians who support our buildings every day.


First grade students learned how to use MobyMax after the teacher inservice on Wednesday. It's always nice to see technology at work in the classrooms. Mrs. Thomas, instrucational coach, also assisted a kindergarten class in learning how to log in to some apps on their iPads. It was a great day to be a North Tornado!

TMH Free Bicycle Rodeo - October 15th


Our first Tornado Futures meeting was held yesterday! We had 9 representatives of the Health Care field presenting to 60 students about the Health Care field. Representatives included: Sarah McNeely, Heather Owens, Joletta Hill, Kyra Havera, Kelsey LeVault, Pat Schneider, Sharon Bangert, Bill Beyers, and Alan Freedman.
