This month's TJHS character trait is "responsible". Fifth grade SEL classes with Ms. Whitehead watched some of "The Lion King" while completing a worksheet and having class discussion about the various ways they saw responsibilities displayed in the movie.
THE RESULTS ARE IN! In the 2025 Poetry March Madness Championship, both of Ms. Cummins’ 3rd and 6th hour classes chose the same winner! After 2 weeks of intense matchups and BIG upsets, Kobe Bryant’s “Dear Basketball” took first place! This poem about dedication, dreams and saying goodbye to the game he loved resonated deeply with the 7th graders, making Kobe the ultimate winner in our poetry bracket. Huge shoutout to all of the amazing poems that competed. It was a tough battle, but in the end, that Mamba Mentality reigned supreme!
Ms. West’s class has been checking out the live feed of the eagle’s nest at Big Bear Valley. The Eagles names are Shadow and Jackie. The baby eagles are called Eaglets but have not been named yet.
The wheels of creativity were turning in Mrs. Klingler’s second-grade classroom as students used LEGO kits borrowed from the ROE. Students built and coded vehicles, successfully completing exciting classroom missions and showing off their coding skills!

In Mrs. Phares’s second-grade class, students built more than LEGO vehicles—they built confidence in coding! Using LEGO kits provided by the ROE, they programmed their vehicles to complete creative challenges, bringing STEM to life.
LEGO bricks met coding in Mrs. Hooper’s second-grade room! With LEGO kits from the ROE, students constructed vehicles, then programmed them to move through specific tasks—turning learning into an engaging, hands-on adventure.
Mrs. Vickers’s second graders experienced hands-on STEM learning by building and coding LEGO vehicles. Using borrowed kits from the ROE, students proudly watched their creations navigate obstacles and complete tasks around the classroom.
Creativity was in high gear in Mrs. Cope’s second-grade classroom as students tackled LEGO building challenges. Thanks to the ROE's LEGO kits, students programmed their vehicles to move and perform special missions!
Second graders in Miss Bortmess’s class became engineers for the day, constructing LEGO vehicles using kits borrowed from the ROE. They took their skills one step further by coding their vehicles to move and complete exciting tasks!

In Mrs. Mateer’s first-grade classroom, LEGO blocks transformed into moving snowmobiles! Students eagerly accepted the building challenge, creating and coding their own models with kits borrowed from the ROE. It was a day filled with creativity and STEM learning!

Mrs. Deetz’s first graders discovered the joy of hands-on coding and construction! Using LEGO kits provided by the ROE, students assembled snowmobiles and learned how to code their designs, watching proudly as their vehicles moved around the room.

After ACT Testing, Freshmen and Sophomores will participate in Community Service projects of their choosing.
Seniors, tomorrow in lieu of testing, you will participate in Career Exploration, Community Service, Military Visit, or an additional College Visit.
