These TJHS musicians spent Saturday, November 4 at Eastern Illinois University, representing our community well as they participated in the ILMEA District Five Jazz Festival.
First National Bank in Taylorville recently dropped off a generous donation to the PBIS Store at Taylorville Junior High School. Students at TJHS work to earn Tommy Tickets to spend at the store each month. Students earn tickets for being Trustworthy, Teachable, and Thoughtful. The students of Taylorville Junior High School are proud to honor the veterans in our community with a Veterans Day Breakfast on Monday, November 6, 2023 in the Taylorville Junior High School cafeteria. We ask that those attending please call the junior high at (217)824-4924 by Thursday, November 2, 2022. Reservations need to include: the name of the veteran, the number of family members attending, the branch of service, and any special accommodations that might be needed. We ask that our veterans and their families park in the back parking lot and use the east entrance near North School to enter the building. Escorts will then show attendees to the cafeteria for breakfast and a short program.

THS staff taking part in some Halloween fun!
Mrs. Anderson’s 8th grade science class recently learned about potential and kinetic energy. Students had the task of building a coaster and were given a list of materials and prices with criteria and constraints. After building and testing, students presented their coasters to the class along with a marketing plan. Thank you to the Taylorville Junior High Alumni and area manager of rides Anthony Aldridge for meeting with the 8th grade science classes all the way from Carowinds Amusement Park in North Carolina. He took time to explain all that goes into designing, constructing, and maintaining coasters. He was very knowledgeable about coasters from all around the world. It was a great way to wrap up the unit with the science students.

Mr. Nichols' Intro to Industry classes have been busy the past few days! Students are learning how to run the CNC Machine, creating nameplates for new teachers, and building workbenches for the shop!
Our TJHS bands and choirs were simply awesome at our Spooktacular concert on Wednesday, Oct 25. Thank you Mrs. Ninmer for your outstanding efforts and thank you to our dedicated and talented students. Lastly, thank you parents/guardians for your continual support of TJHS performing arts.
Second graders in Ms. Evan's classroom participated in Red Ribbon Week by dressing in RED. We love a good theme day!
