The students in Mrs. Klingler's class crafted reindeer headbands and attached CVC words to them. They then created a list and walked around, trying to identify all the CVC words as part of their reindeer games.

Miss McCallister’s third grade class participated in a gingerbread house stem activity! They had to purchase their material and stay in budget. Then, their groups created a masterpiece that could fit their gingerbread man inside. Their house had to stand with gust winds via the hair dryer! We had three groups build a rock solid gingerbread house! Congratulations to The Christmas Elves, Peppermint Pals and Santa’s Little Helpers!

Mark your calendars for the TMH Walking Challenge starting January 2nd. It's a great way to stay active and healthy after the holiday season!

We enjoyed a full day of Polar Express activities! We listened to the story, transformed our desks into a Polar Express train, answered comprehension questions, practiced alphabetical order, created a train through a math color-by-number activity, and ended the day with hot cocoa while watching The Polar Express movie.

"Finals are upon us, but the magic of the holidays is just around the corner! 🎄✨ We want to wish our high school students the best of luck on their final exams!
To our incredible high school students: Remember to pace yourselves, prioritize your well-being, and know that all your hard work will pay off. You've got this! 💪 We're rooting for you!"

Welcome to TCUSD 3, Mr. Stile Smith. Mr. Smith will join the district as TJHS principal next fall.
I am originally from Centralia, IL and I graduated from Centralia High School in 2008. I completed my Bachelor of Science in English Education in 2012 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and my Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Illinois-Springfield in 2024. I began my teaching career in 2012, and I spent my first 11 years at Taylorville High School as a high school ELA teacher. During my time in Taylorville, I also served as JV/7th grade boys basketball coach, JV softball coach, and student council advisor. Since 2023, I have served as the Junior High Assistant Principal and District Athletic Director in the Pana School District.
I have called Taylorville my home since beginning my teaching career in 2012. I met my wife, Whitney, a few months after moving here. We were married in July of 2014, and we now have four beautiful children: Hayva (8), Sawyer (6), Adalyn (3) and Hollyn (Born Oct. 18). While I'm not originally from Taylorville, it has become my home over the past 12 and a half years and I'm so thrilled to return to the district to lead an amazing junior high staff and student population.

Students in Miss Johnson's class at Memorial elementary did a science activity about circuits and how light bulbs work. This lesson parallels our "Young Thomas Edison" story. We love to see our young scientists at work!
