Taylorville Whitetails Unlimited donated 6 new targets to the junior high PE program. The new targets are commercial grade and used in youth competitions across the country. The students at the junior high love the archery units and these new targets are a much needed upgrade for what we have been using for years. We want to thank Josh Asad and Dennis Crowder from Powder Keg for helping do the leg work on finding the perfect targets!

1st Grade Fun: Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Reiser teamed up for a fun and engaging writing and STEM activity inspired by Creepy Carrots! 🥕 Students practiced writing complete sentences about the story and then got creative with clothespins and popsicle sticks, building fences to keep Jasper the rabbit out and the carrots safe inside. It was a blend of literacy and hands-on learning, and the kids had a blast working together on this co-taught project! Stay tuned for pictures of our little engineers and writers in action! Here are some of Mrs. Haselhorst's 1st graders.

4th Grade Coding Adventure with Sphero Indi Our 4th graders had an amazing experience with Ms. Reiser, blending creativity, problem-solving, and coding! Each class designed unique cities using map pieces, then programmed the Sphero Indi robot to navigate through their maps. Students explored how coding can bring their ideas to life while working together to solve challenges. It was an engaging hands-on project that allowed them to think like engineers, planners, and programmers. We are so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see what they code next! Here is Mrs. Salazar's class from Memorial.

Boo pops
David McCreary "Relevant Speakers Network" came to TJHS to share with our students and staff about his mission to share the secret of how to truly Live More. David shared moments from his life that made an impact on how he views time. He posited that today is someone in the futures past that they will one day regret. He challenged our kids to be better and do better, as well as to learn to laugh along with others. His comedy and magic tricks were a welcome break for us all. Thanks for the message David and thank you to our Student Council for sponsoring these opportunities to take a positve message school-wide.
