Congratulations to Matt Blomquist, who was named a winner of the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence this morning. Blomquist, a construction teacher at Taylorville High School in Taylorville, IL, won a total of $50,000, including $15,000 for himself and $35,000 for his program. A total of $1.25 million is being awarded to twenty high school skilled trades teachers in 15 states. Harbor Freight Tools for Schools

We celebrate our custodians who support our buildings every day.
First grade students learned how to use MobyMax after the teacher inservice on Wednesday. It's always nice to see technology at work in the classrooms. Mrs. Thomas, instrucational coach, also assisted a kindergarten class in learning how to log in to some apps on their iPads. It was a great day to be a North Tornado!

Our first Tornado Futures meeting was held yesterday! We had 9 representatives of the Health Care field presenting to 60 students about the Health Care field. Third graders are participating in a STEM bridge building challenge this week. They read the story "Pop's Bridge" and were challenged by Ms. Specha to build a bridge 12 inches long that is capable of holding the weight of 100 pennies. Many interesting designs were chosen by the classes today.
Mrs. Richardson’s 7th graders did a digital escape Thursday and Friday. It was called stuck in the 80s and was related to a study of add/sub/mult/Div integers chapter.
