After two days of IAR testing, students had the chance to unwind with some fun and engaging board games—all while reinforcing their ELA skills! They played games focused on main idea, vocabulary, cause & effect, comprehension, and inferencing. A great way to review and recharge!

STEM sudents made models of DNA molecules out of licorice and colored marshmallows in Mrs. Wagner's class. Each marshmallow represented a specific nitrogen base. The students then had to add the appropriate marshmallows to complete the base pairs. Once finished the models were able to replicate the twisted ladder structure of DNA. Their models were also edible which added to the fun!

Ms. Anderson's STEM classes were visited by two employees from Memorial Hospital Lab Department. They spoke to the classes about how to become certified to work in the lab, and what it is like to work in the lab. Their positions relate directly to the upcoming Medical Detective Unit that the students will begin in a few weeks.

"This month, our class participated in our annual project with Christian County Animal Control! Each student received information about cats and dogs currently available for adoption at their facility. Using what we learned, we wrote adoption letters, highlighting each animal’s unique personality and why they would make a wonderful addition to a loving home.
Today, we had the privilege of welcoming Dwanna and Sam from CCAC into our classroom! They reviewed our adoption flyers, answered our questions, and shared more about the important work they do for animals in need. We’re so proud of the students for using their writing skills to help these pets find their FURever homes!"

Today we celebrate the incredible school librarians who foster a love of reading, guide us through research, and create safe spaces for learning. Your dedication makes a world of difference!

Thank you to all our Memorial families and friends for making our Spring Family Night a huge success!

This month's TJHS character trait is "responsible". Fifth grade SEL classes with Ms. Whitehead watched some of "The Lion King" while completing a worksheet and having class discussion about the various ways they saw responsibilities displayed in the movie.

THE RESULTS ARE IN! In the 2025 Poetry March Madness Championship, both of Ms. Cummins’ 3rd and 6th hour classes chose the same winner! After 2 weeks of intense matchups and BIG upsets, Kobe Bryant’s “Dear Basketball” took first place! This poem about dedication, dreams and saying goodbye to the game he loved resonated deeply with the 7th graders, making Kobe the ultimate winner in our poetry bracket. Huge shoutout to all of the amazing poems that competed. It was a tough battle, but in the end, that Mamba Mentality reigned supreme!

Ms. West’s class has been checking out the live feed of the eagle’s nest at Big Bear Valley. The Eagles names are Shadow and Jackie. The baby eagles are called Eaglets but have not been named yet.
