YMCA Back to School Health and Resource Fair
CNB Bank & Trust is offering a free summer math program for kindergarten through 12th students.
Students can stop by the Taylorville branch beginning June 24 to pick up their math packet. It has daily activities for the student to complete.
Once the month is over and the packet is completed, they can return them to the bank and receive a $10 gift card.
TJHS thanks CNB Bank & Trust for providing this financial literacy opportunity to our kids and community!

Attention Taylorville students and parents, our last day of student attendance is this Friday, May 24, 2024 with a 1:00 dismissal. Wednesday and Thursday are both 2:30 dismissal days. If you have any questions please contact your building administrator.
Second grade students and teachers recently enjoyed an author visit! Mrs. Barbara Kay is a retired history teacher and she is from Columbia, Illinois. She now, when not traveling with her husband, portrays different people in history. For our 2nd graders she portrayed Betsey Ross, the maker of our first American flag. She dresses in period attire (1700"s) and gives the story of this woman's life and her place in history for a nominal fee. DAR of Christian County was happy to donate the funds so our second grade classes could benefit from this history lesson.

Mrs. Heidi Durbin has been recognized as the Red Apple recipient for the month of April at TJHS. Mrs. Durbin is the chair of our math department and works tirelessly with students and staff to make sure that our kids are prepared to be successful as their high school years approach. Mrs. Durbin also takes time out of her schedule to support the continual improvement of the school by serving on the School Leadership Team and acting as a Taylorville Education Association representative at TJHS. Mrs. Durbin states that, "I love to see students gain confidence in their ability to do math. I love to see when the "light-bulb" turns on when a student finally understands a concept." Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to our kids and community.
Congratulations to Mrs. Leanne Bonitzer for being recognized as the outstanding support staff member of the month at TJHS. Mrs. Bonitzer serves as a long-term substitute teacher, provides locker coverings for kids involved in extracurricular activities, and recently helped to coordinate and implement a great teacher appreciation week. Her willingness to be flexible with daily assignments, help tutor students in all subjects, and continue to serve with a smile makes a positive difference at TJHS everyday. Mrs. Bonitzer reiterated that, "I really enjoy working with kids. I was always taught how valuable education is and I want to see every kid succeed." Thank you Mrs. Bonitzer.
The TJHS Fine Arts Fair is tonight at 6 pm. Mrs. Ninmer encourages everyone to come out and hear some great fun band and jazz band music, as well as seeing the AWESOME artwork created by our very talented TJHS students under the direction of Mr. Wolters.
It starts tonight at 6 pm and will be over around 7 pm. Cookies and lemonade will be available at the reception aftertwards.
