🍎 **September Learning Fun in First Grade!** 🍎
Mrs. Lively’s first graders have been busy this September! They celebrated the season with some fun apple activities and also had a special visit from **Miss Sophie, our district Hearing Itinerant**, in recognition of **Deaf Awareness Month**. 🤟
Miss Sophie shared a story with the class in a very special way, signing the book in American Sign Language as it was read aloud. The students loved seeing and learning about another way we can communicate!

Our 5th grade students had an exciting morning learning about energy efficiency and ways they can make a difference in their homes and community! Through Ameren Illinois’s Energize Your Town program, students explored how energy is produced and used, along with simple ways to conserve energy and reduce waste. A big thank-you to Ameren Illinois for providing this engaging and educational experience for our students!

Battle Pups Come to North School! 🐾
North School is excited to welcome the Way to Battle “Battle Pups” program, thanks to Mrs. Hickey, our PE teacher, who applied for and received this program for our school!
Battle Pups are designed to provide comfort, encouragement, and support to students who may be facing a difficult time, while sharing the important message that “No one battles alone.” North School teachers will have the opportunity to choose to incorporate the Battle Pups program into their classrooms as a way to offer additional encouragement and support to their students.
A big thank you to Mrs. Hickey for bringing this special opportunity to North School! ❤️🐶

Unlocking history!!
Mrs. Anderson's 8th grade students got a fascinating look at the roots of tech and coding when Mrs. Reindl visited to explore the early days of coding. She took the class back to World War II to share the story of the famous Enigma machine and how early codebreakers changed history.
After learning about the history, students completed a hands-on activity. They used Pringles cans with a coding sheet to build their very own one-rotor-working Enigma machine replica. Students then learned how to trace the wires step-by-step to encrypt and decode secret words.

A very enthusiastic Thank You goes out to Peoples Bank & Trust of Taylorville for their generous donation of $600 to Taylorville Junior High’s Art Program.
This funding will be utilized to purchase mobile display panels, allowing students to create “pop-up” galleries that can be positioned anywhere throughout the building,
Mr. Wolters, the TJHS Art teacher, indicates that students are excited about the ability to curate their own galleries in unexpected places for their peers and staff members to see.

⚠️ Important Note: You will not be able to view your child's teacher assignment until online registration is fully completed. If you haven't finished registration yet, be sure to complete that step first!
