PE Power! North School and 5th Grade at TJHS joined the World Record STACK UP Challenge! 🍎💪

We want to recognize our dedicated PE teachers, Mrs. Hickey and Mrs. Curtin, for bringing an exciting global challenge to our K-2 students at North and our 5th-grade students at the TJHS!

They organized their PE classes to participate in the Annual World Record STACK UP event. This is an international attempt to beat the record for the "Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations," aiming for more than 752,632 participants!

Our students had a blast learning, stacking, and contributing their effort to this massive, cooperative world record attempt. It's more than just stacking, it's about coordination, focus, and being part of something bigger!

We are so grateful to Doug Cowell and Amazon for the donation of sixty coats, sixty hats, and sixty pairs of socks for the students who need them at North Elementary. These types of donations allow us to help those in need as the weather gets colder. Thanks Doug, and Chief Wheeler for stopping by during the delivery!

Boo! Check Out the North School Library’s Spooky October Fun!

It's better late than never for these awesome photos! Mrs. Rahar brought a huge dose of Halloween fun (and a spooky friend!) to the North School Library in October, and our students had a blast!

Watch out for a very mysterious special guest in these candid class pictures: Mrs. Rahar’s friendly skeleton pal! She clearly loves books. Can you spot her? She pops up right next to students in some photos, but he's a master of hide-and-seek and totally disappears into the background in others!

Thanks to Mrs. Rahar for making the library so much fun! Enjoy these awesome, spooky surprises!

Better Late Than Never: North School Library October Fun!

We apologize for the delay, but we simply had to share these October moments from Mrs. Rahar’s library!

These "better late than never" photos capture the students enjoying a fun, Halloween-themed session among the stacks. Look closely, and you might spot a very unique (and surprisingly helpful) friend of Mrs. Rahar's, a friendly skeleton who clearly loves reading as much as our students do! She appears prominently in some class pictures, only to mysteriously disappear into the background in others.

We appreciate Mrs. Rahar for fostering such a fun and engaging environment. We hope these photos bring a little bit of spooky cheer to your November!

Mrs. Lively’s First Graders Take a Virtual Field Trip with Amazon Future Engineer

Mrs. Lively’s first-grade class recently participated in a virtual field trip through the Amazon Future Engineer program, where they explored how Amazon Fulfillment Centers operate. Students learned how technology and people work together to move packages from online orders to homes around the world.

This was a pilot activity to see if it might be a good fit to share with other classes and Mrs. Lively’s students were the perfect test group! They were engaged, attentive, and excited to see how real-world technology connects to what they learn in school.

What an incredible day at North Elementary!
Our classrooms were filled with some of the bravest readers around, local first responders! From deputies and police officers to firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and Dunn’s Ambulance crews, these heroes took time out of their busy day to visit, read, and connect with our students.

Thank you for sharing your time, your stories, and your service to keep Taylorville safe! 🌟
