On the evening of Friday, April 12, 2024 the THS Music Department sent several ensembles to participate in the Illinois High School Association State Music Contest. The THS Concert Choir, Concert Band, and Jazz Band each prepared a set of very challenging music to perform in front of a three judge panel. Each of those groups earned the highest level rating of Superior, or Division I. These student musicians did a great job, and represented our school and community extremely well. Congratulations!

Thanks to generous sponsors throughout the school year, TJHS students have been able to shop at the school store monthly with their Tornado Tickets. Tornado Tickets are earned by the students for going above and beyond and following school expectations. Student Council members have taken ownership of working the school store and have done a fabulous job. One popular item in the store this month is book tokens for the school book machine. Thank you to Dexheimer Farms, CNB Bank & Trust, First National Bank in Taylorville, Kiwanis Club, Designed with Detail and TJHS Student Council for their donations this school year.

The Taylorville Police Department and Christian County Sheriff made us aware of an incident they were investigating involving weapons possessed by a person outside of school, which also resulted in the recovery of a look-alike weapon “BB Gun” located at school. They have assured us that at no time are they aware our students or staff were ever in danger. We are grateful for their thorough and rapid response and for keeping us apprised as the investigation unfolded. Please don’t be alarmed by the additional visibility of officers in the area over the next couple of days as we have asked police to be more visible in and around the school.
