On Thursday, May 16th, Holly Kelly, with The Learning Technology Center of Illinois, will host two virtual sessions for guardians:
"Navigating the Digital Seas our Students & Children Explore"
Our students and children are sailing through pretty choppy waters in the digital seas. Amid digital learning and consumption rigors, many young people are under unprecedented mental pressure. Even the typical challenges of youth and adolescence are magnified online, making it much harder to find a safe harbor.
How can we effectively address some of these stressors? What role can technology play in supplying that relief? How do we help our children thrive digitally and keep them safe online?
Join us as we chart technology's profound impact on today's students and their developing brains. On this voyage, we'll explore what and how digital media, social media, computer literacy, and AI intersect with today's youth's daily lives. Along the way, we'll uncover how to empower our children in their digital and oxygenated lives.

Taylorville Choir Students Receive Awards
Several awards were conferred upon students in the Taylorville Choir Program at a year-end Honors Concert held on the evening of Tuesday, May 7. Awards given out at the ceremony include:
Outstanding 7/8th Grade Choir Member – Landri Salmon
Outstanding 7/8th Grade Musician – Olivia Garren
Outstanding THS Mixed Choir Member – CJ Guy
Outstanding THS Mixed Choir Musician – Maelie Heberling
Outstanding THS Concert Choir Member – Mylie Sims
Outstanding THS Concert Choir Musician – Rhyker Wicks
Also announced at the concert was the recipient of the prestigious National School Choral Award. For the 2023-2024 school year, this honor goes to Mylie Sims
The THS Jazz Band and THS Cheer Squad helped welcome Sonic to Tayorville!
The TJHS Student Council will be raising funds for the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight May 6-10. Students will be given a ticket for each dollar donated, and a drawing will be held at the end of the week for a prize. The grade level that raises the most money will get ice cream. Students are also encouraged to make cards that will be given to veterans on the return flight.
Thank you to Mrs. Davidson for organizing a Fishing trip for some of our THS students! A great experience and learning a lifelong love of the outdoors!

Our "Tornadoes Together" kids had a great time with sidewalk chalk and a dedicated time to have fun in the sun!
Each year, the business management class at THS does a non-profit organization project. After voting by students, teachers, and administration, Carlie Durham won with her presentation on Dinner Seasoned with Love. DSWL has been serving the community with a free hot meal on the third Saturday of every month. Anyone can join on a no-questions-asked basis. If you would like more information, please call 217-825-6824.

Unified Tornadoes went to Memorial School today to spend some time playing games with the FACeS students. THS students in attendance were Grace Rogers, Nora Thomas, Olivia Woodward, Aubrey Kietzman and Jessi Wright.
