Committee Chair awards  presented for outstanding leadership:

The district has made incredible progress on our strategic plan. The committee chairs who have led this important work recognize all of the efforts across the district that have made improvements possible. The committee chairs wish to recognize individuals who have really stood out, leading the work and getting our district into great shape. 


Ron Mizer, Chair of the Curriculum Committee

Anita Brown has been instrumental in leading the work of the District and School Leadership Teams with expansion of opportunities for all students across grade levels. Under Anita’s leadership all of the district’s schools are commendable. She has directed, undertaken and performed steps that include the following: school improvement calendar, professional development program, instructional coaching, upgraded ELA/Math/Technology tools, schoolwide social emotional curriculum and platform of support, and has been instrumental in pursuing and writing grants taking the district from 7 grants to 22 which have positively impacted every aspect of our strategic plan and district.

Rick Bryan, Chair of the Building Committee 

Steve Walters - has  been instrumental in leading the work of the building committee and improving the district facilities. He has directed, undertaken, and performed upgrades that includes the following: roofing, tuckpointing, plumbing, electrical, fencing, flooring, security, lighting, grounds, and has been instrumental on the planning team for the construction of the new facility.

Rick Bryan, Chair of the Building Committee

Chris Westrick - has been behind the scenes leading the work of the building committee and supporting Steve’s department by improving our learning and working spaces. He has directed, undertaken, and performed work that includes the following: hiring and restaffing the custodial team, training, equipping, modeling best practices for clean environments, rehabbed the new district offices (painting, flooring, found equipment and moved many furniture items - some even from Bloomington), moved the district office crew, repaired locks, desks, file cabinets, and has been instrumental in the planning team for school wellness.

Jason Hadley has been instrumental in leading the work of the co-curricular committee and increasing participation among students, staff, families, and the community by advancing district co-curriculars all the way to the state tournament. He has directed, undertaken, and performed work that includes the following: hiring, mentoring, and staffing the field, planning and hosting events, communicating events and outcomes, monitoring student academic and co-curricular progress, an has been instrumental in the planning and operation of United Tornadoes, a student focused inclusive approach on campus.

Carla Mickey Chair of the Co-Curricular Committee

Brian Sample  has been instrumental in leading the work of the co-curricular committee and increasing participation among students at TJH, staff, families, and the community by advancing district co-curriculars. He has directed, undertaken, and performed work that includes the following: hiring, mentoring, and staffing the field, planning and hosting events, communicating events and outcomes, monitoring student academic and co-curricular progress, and has been instrumental in getting teams to state competitions including earning a state championship for girls basketball.

Rick Bryan, Chair of the Finance Committee

Wendy Dulakis has been instrumental in leading the work of the district finance committee by demonstrating fiscal leadership and responsibility to the community for the district needs. Under Wendys leadership the district developed a financial timeline and has been navigating short-term, midterm, and long term fiscal planning with a prioritized list addressing building repairs, bonds, and revenue/expense projections. As a result of the concerted efforts key priorities have been met for students, staff, and the financial condition of the district with clean audits and top state ratings. She has directed, undertaken and performed steps that include the following: budgeting, levying, grants management, staff training/support, and has been instrumental in utilizing financial planning to set the district up for contract negotiations and to build the new fine arts/sports complex which are important to the district.

Jennifer Norris, Chair of the PR Committee

Jessica Miller has been instrumental in leading the work of the district public relations committee by demonstrating technology leadership and responsibility to the community for the district needs. Under Jessica’s leadership the district advanced the use of google, established Tommy TV, undertook distance learning, and expanded the district’s media reach and presence.  Several years ago the district was looking for a better way to showcase the district and communicate in the quickly advancing world of social media. As a result of the concerted efforts key priorities have been met for students, staff, and the community with the new integrated district website that incorporates multiple social media platforms. She has directed, undertaken and performed steps that include the following: staff training/support, SOPPA compliance (student/staff safety), network improvements, google expansion, interactive panels in classrooms and training areas, state of the art copying network, and has been instrumental in utilizing grants and to collaborate with departments across the district to support a reliable technology backbone which is important to every aspect of the district.
