TJHS Scouts are alive and well after their 20 mile march this past weekend! The Scouts BSA had their annual Lincoln Pilgrimage in Springfield last weekend. The event has occured for more than 75 years and features a hike from New Salem State Park all the way to Springfield. Well done, we are proud of you!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! The TJHS Student Council put together a cart of goodies for the teachers at the junior high. Thank you, TJHS teachers for all you do to help our students excel!


Yesterday, the TJHS Student Council honored Mr. Bruder for Principal Appreciation Day. We thank him for his hard work and dedication to the students and staff of the junior high!


Congratulations to our red sneaker winner, TJHS 5th grade student Dililla Jordan. Dililla's name was pulled from the raffle tickets students were given after donating to our recent student council fundraiser, Red Sneakers for Oakley, which promoted food allergy awareness.

Eric Bruder, Grace Rogers, Lucas Salisbury, Mrs. Karen Kuntzman, Mrs. Michelle Reiss, Amber Achenbach, Kallie Havera, and Mr. Matt Hutchison.


Mrs. Curtin’s PE classes finished up their corn hole unit with a tournament. These are the winners from each hour!





Mrs. Foil’s 7th grade Geography class is finishing up their Europe Unit by presenting a PowerPoint of a European country that they choose. This was a partner project and student’s learned the country’s location, capital, religion, language, government, music, dance, art, facts about family, clothing, traditions, food, beliefs, interesting sites, what the countries learn, and population. Partners presented the PowerPoints to their class.


Mrs. Foil’s 7th grade Geography Class studied four basic governments at the beginning of the year. They recently added multiple other government systems as they are learning about Europe’s countries. Students did A Gallery Walk of Governments.



Congratulations to Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. April Durbin! Mrs. Hughes has been named the Red Apple recipient of the month for March and Mrs. Durbin is the support staff member of the month in her school counselor role. Thank you to these two dedicated professionals for making a positive difference in the lives of our kids and community each and every day!



Recently, the TJHS Student Coucil sponsored the Red Sneakers for Oakley fundraiser to raise food allergy awareness. This fundraiser was spearheaded by Madison Krachum, who has a special interest in this topic. Pictured are the winners of the Red Sneakers for Oakley goody bags: Jace Smith, Wyatt Moreland, and Treyten Paulding. Dililla Jordan was the winner of a new pair of red sneakers!
