District Administration

Dr. DoughertyDr. Chris Dougherty was named superintendent in the spring of 2019 after an executive search and began her tenure at Taylorville CUSD #3 on July 1, 2019. She has 28 years of public school teaching and administrative experience, brings honed leadership skills, an in-depth knowledge of finance, strategic planning, and curriculum and instruction, as well as a collaborative, student-centered mindset to District #3. These are characteristics that the school community identified as important during the superintendent search. Dr. Dougherty is committed to enhancing the collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents, and community while furthering the excellence that are hallmarks of District #3. Formerly, Dr. Dougherty served as Superintendent of Schools for DePue USD #3, Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Regional Office of Education at LaSalle County, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Streator School District 44. She also served as a teacher and coach in LaSalle County schools. In addition to PreK-12 education, she has also provided leadership for the extension office of the University of Illinois for LaSalle County. She has presented extensively at the county and state level on administrative and collaborative topics, as well as implementation of evaluation systems for teachers and principals. Dr. Dougherty has also been elected or appointed to key committees in communities in which she has served. In addition, she has written an array of grants and worked extensively to develop interagency partnerships across multiple local, county, and state agencies. Dr. Dougherty received her Doctorate in Education Leadership from Western Illinois University, Educational Specialist Certificate from Illinois State University, Master's Degree in Education Leadership from Aurora University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University.
